Kathleen Hessert Founder and Director of kidskonnectukraine
During a visit to Ukraine in November 2022 Kathleen, the CEO of Sports Media Challenge a U.S. based sports and entertainment marketing and strategic communications consultancy launched KidsKonnectUkraine as part of the NGO MoveUkraine. Her goal was to build a meaningful virtual bridge and empathetic connections between Ukrainian and American teens.
Responsible for KKU’s strategy and activation, she works to enlist American schools, clubs, and individuals to connect with their Ukrainian counterparts. The ultimate goal is to build world-spanning understanding, empathy, cultural exchange and student to student connections.
In Ukraine, she enlists and manages a team of educators to expand the program nationwide, promote and coordinate participation.
Through ongoing student-centered activities, including regularly scheduled Zoom meetups and Slack chats, contests, and challenges, KKU establishes a creative outlet to preserve and amplify Ukrainian culture. In the U.S. KKU expands student understanding and engagement in critical world affairs.

I'm Tetiana. My teaching experience is nearly 18 years. I believe that my role extends beyond teaching English; it involves fostering meaningful connections with my students. I am an English teacher from Ukraine with nearly 18 years of experience. Teaching has always been an incredibly fulfilling career for me. In the midst of Ukraine's current challenges, I strive to provide my students not only with English Language skills but also the support they need during these difficult times. I am proud to be part of the #KidsKonnectUkraine program, building bridges between Ukrainian and American youth. Together, we can create a brighter future for the next generation.

I am Iryna, with nearly 19 years of experience in teaching English. One of my greatest joys as a teacher is witnessing the transformative journey of my students. I take the time to understand their individual strengths, challenges, and aspirations, tailoring my teaching methods to meet their unique needs. Through constructive feedback, encouragement, and support, I instill in them the belief that they can overcome any obstacle and achieve greatness. Together with KidsKonnectUkraine, we can create an environment where students can thrive, challenge themselves, and ultimately soar to great heights.
